Reverse Ventures is building out it's Cape Town office and we are looking for a Chief Technology Officer to join our venture building team. You will be part of a self-organised agile team that is working on designing and developing use cases from ideas to prototypes to products.


We are looking for CTO to lead the day-to-day development process, inform strategic technology and architecture decisions and guide venture team throughout the venture design lifecycle.


They will be an innovator, strategic thinker, and thought partner to the corporate partner CEO and other leaders. The CTO will have a track-record of delivering and scaling products and solutions that surprise and delight users and customers. They will set the stage for high performance, support initiative, and encourage accountability at all levels of the organization.


Duties and responsibilities

You will have a unique opportunity to guide venture outcomes relating to technology stack, architecture and development roadmap. As a venture design CTO, you will be involved in the venture design process from start to finish, providing strategic input at each stage of design and setup guard rails for governance and effective delivery of MVPs and products at scale.


You will be responsible for following areas within the business:


  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Venture with technical thought-leadership, and translate business initiatives into technical strategy
  • Lead the design of technical architecture and infrastructure to support enterprise-level scale needs
  • Key decision-maker who chooses the tech stack, programming language, and framework
  • Collaborate, inform and execute on product vision and roadmap to bring solutions to market on time and on budget
  • Collaboratively partner with other teams within the organization to drive business outcomes; working closely with design and business teams and provide strategic input into art-of-the-possible throughout the venture design process
  • Developing strategies for advancing partnerships, technology platforms, and external relationships
  • Ensure venture architecture is future-fit and allows for potential integration into corporate partners existing technology landscape
  • Take a customer centric approach to selecting the right technology to engage with end users of venture products
  • Conducting technical reviews of products and solutions to evaluate their applicability
  • Put in place measures to track product success, monitor product management metrics, and review technological strategies


Requirements and qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility and leadership of technology and/or software engineering teams, culminating in the target role
  • Experience in development of early stage digital products and businesses
  • In depth understanding of full technology architecture landscape and Software Development Lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the strategic business needs though technical execution
  • Established experience architecting enterprise-class systems at scale
  • Successful product launches dependent upon effective cross-functional collaboration and utilizing rapid development cycle
  • Passion for deeply understanding customer needs and wants
  • Demonstrated experience bringing to market data-driven platforms (vs. applications only)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience


Preferred:

  • Experience bringing to market consumer/provider-facing healthcare offerings
  • Established ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels of an organization
  • Polished and persuasive written and verbal communicator skills
  • Venture-funded start-up experience
